Kia-Hyundai Class Action Lawsuit 2024

A lawsuit has been filed against the two big companies that have a promising environment for their products. Concerns have been raised about the recent products of the KIA and HYUNDAI automobiles due to the chances of theft due to an insufficient security system. The cases have been voiced in New York and many other cities. The users have filed complaints regarding certain models that were released during the initial year of 2011.

The appealing designs and the purchase prices of the vehicles have brought huge sales to these companies. However, in recent years, sales of theft and other accidents have been reported by potential buyers. The issue has been raised by the users regarding the models not having the engine immobilizer, which is a standard security feature for automobiles. Due to the lack of these effective features, the simple screwdriver or the USB cords can be easily used for theft purposes. The lawsuit came into action through the ongoing threading video of these vehicles on social media platforms.

$3375 Settlement Payment

The companies involved in the lawsuit have reached a conclusion regarding the settlement. They are ready to pay out the settlement amount in a certain manner. The settlement includes software upgrades and monetary compensation. However, the software upgrades are not available to all the class members.  The client will be receiving compensation for the various losses depending on the situation of the loss.

The marginal loss for the vehicle lost due to qualifying theft will be receiving the amount around 60 per cent. A huge amount of $3,375, or around 33 per cent, will be issued to the damaged vehicles or for the loss of personal property during the incident. The insurance deduction of $375 and the increased premium qualifying the theft attempt will be granted. An additional $250 for transportation charges and other expenses, such as towing and fines, will also be issued. The childcare cost and the lost wages, totalling $250, will be issued during the software upgrade process.

$3375 Settlement Payment Dates

The settlement has certainly been approved, and the claim-filling period has been stated since the initial month of this year. The notices were sent out to the class members during March 2024. The final hearing for approval was scheduled to be held on 15th July 2024. After the final verdict, the payment will be commerced subject to final approval by the court.

For the cars that are not subjected to the software upgrade, there is an offer for reimbursement of up to $300 per vehicle for the purchase of the steering wheel lock, glass breakage alarm, and other anti-theft devices.  Vehicles with the company’s already installed steering locks can receive a claim of up to $250.

The lawsuit is being processed, and the claimant has been filling out the forms to receive their amount. However, there are certain eligibility criteria that must be followed up on in order to receive them. As the software upgrades are subject to all the claimants, there are certain requirements to be overtired to receive the upgrades. This includes the vehicles that have the technology to start without the key.

The upgrade is available in all fifty states, along with the car registered in the District of Columbia. However, with the availability of the registration from Guam, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, these settlements are not applicable. Funds of around $80,000,000 and $145,000,000 have been approved by all class members. The claim processing will begin after the settlement is finalized. Users will receive the warranty advantage of $3375 by submitting the claim form.
